NEHU Scientist named ‘Best researcher’

SHILLONG: Dr. Sudip Dey of Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong has received the ‘Best researcher’ award of EET CRS Science and Technology award-2013.

The best researcher award is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions in research leading to the discovery of new knowledge or pioneering development of Scientific or engineering techniques or methods. Dr. Dey had discovered two new biological structures hitherto unknown to Science, detected a situation similar to Fabry – Perrot interference filter in some fish eye lens, detected bio capacitor in butterfly wing, has given the only plausible explanation to the biological mystery of refractive index gradation in fish eye lens and also made extensive studies on nano – structured biomaterials having potentials for industrial applications. All these studies led to the discovery of new knowledge in relevant fields.

Further, Dr. Dey also made pioneering development of scientific technique for sample preparation of Scanning electron microscopy, which is internationally recognized as the best method available so far for animal cells.
