Youth, animal electrocuted

JOWAI: Yet in another electrocution case, a 15-year-old youth and a buffalo was electrocuted at Umkiang village on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Saddam Ali alias Kalu, son of Akbar Ali hailing from Jalalpur village bording Bangladesh in Upper Assam.

According to Dinis Chyrmang of Umkiang, the incident took place at around 3:00 pm where Ali’s father was employed to look after his land for the last seven years. His son, Ali was taking care of their cattle and at around 3:00 pm one of the buffalo was electrocuted in the paddy field.

“When he saw that the animal was in trouble and knowing not that it was due to electricity, he rushed to see what happened but he too was electrocuted on the spot”, Chyrmang said.

Immediately, the body was shifted to Jalalpur without informing the Police.
