2nd Div football tourney to start today

SHILLONG: The Shillong Sports Association has released the schedule for the first eight matches of the Second Division Football Tournament, which will begin in the city on Monday.

The division has been split into two groups.

In Group A are Riatsamthiah SC, Lumshyiap SC, Mawshbuit SC, Mawpat SC, Ryntih SC, Madan SS & CC, and Laitumkhrah SS & CC.

Group B features Laban SC, Nongthymmai SC, Nongkseh SS & CC, Nongumlong SC, Pynthorbah SC, Sohryngkham SC and Krang SC.

The first match will see Group A’s Riatsamthiah SC take on Lumshyiap SC at the JN Sports Complex at 1pm.

Tuesday’s match will see Laban SC face Nongthymmai SC from Group B at the JNSC at 1pm.

The rest of the six matches will be as follows:

Wednesday – Mawshbuit SC vs Mawpat SC at JNSC at 1pm. Thursday – Nongkseh SS&CC vs Nongumlong SC at JNSC at 1pm. Friday – Ryntih SC vs Madan SS&CC at JNSC at 1pm. Saturday – Pynthorbah SC vs Sohryngkham SC at Ground 3 at 4pm. Monday (22 July) – Laitumkhrah SS&CC vs Riatsamthiah SC at Ground 3 at 4pm. Tuesday (23 July) – Krang SC vs Laban SC at Ground 3 at 4pm.

The SSA also released the details for several matches of the ongoing First Division. All the matches will be held at the JNSC at 4pm.

On Tuesday Lawmali Pyllun SC will face Laitlyngkot SC. Smit SC will take on Nongkrem SC on Wednesday, with Boys Sports Coy going up against Umphrup SS&CC on Thursday. Umpling SC will face Shillong United FC on Friday.

There will then be a 10-day break until the next match on July 29.
