SHILLONG: Smit displayed an impressive performance on Wednesday in their First Division football match, beating Nongkrem by a 4-1 margin at the JN Stadium, Polo.

Moonshine Dkhar was the star of the day as he scored a goal apiece in each half, while further contributions were made by Wankhraw Nengnong and Mangkara Kharbangar.

Smit opened their account in just the fourth minute when Wankhraw took advantage of a lapse in the Nongkrem defence.

Three minutes later, Mangkara doubled Smit’s lead by taking a clean shot that beat the keeper.

Moonshine added another goal to his team’s tally in the 40th minute to take Smit to a 3-0 lead at half time.

Nongkrem replied with a goal in the 68th minute when Meban Wahlang converted a penalty.

However, Moonshine hammered the final nail in the coffin when he sent a powerful shot into the net in the 79th minute.

In a Second Division match, Mawshbuit and Mawpat played out a goalless draw despite creating some good chances to score.
