Former legislator’s death condoled

 SHILLONG: The UDP has condoled the death of its former legislator and party leader Sendrowel Moksha (Bah Sen) during a meeting held here on Friday.

Moksha, who passed away on Thursday had represented Mawhati constituency of Ri Bhoi for three consecutive terms in 1983, 1988 and 1993. He was also a Minister in the BB Lyngdoh led Government.

Moksha, who was the senior Vice President of UDP, also served as a member of the district council from 1967 to 1971.

In a statement issued here, the General Secretary of UDP Shillong city, AF Dkhar said that during the condolence meeting chaired by the UDP Working President Bindo Lanong, the party members recalled the contribution of the late leader.

Among other contributions to the society and the State, Moksha was one of the pioneers of tea industry (Na La Ri) in the State.

According to UDP, in his death, the party lost a regional leader who was firm in his principles and political morality.
