SHILLONG: The Cabinet has decided not to appoint those who secure MBBS degree outside the state quota as Medical and Health Officer.

“We have taken a decision that only students who pursue their medical studies under the State quota would be eligible for appointment to the post of M&HO,” Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said after a Cabinet meeting on Friday last. He said that normally students who pursued their medical studies on their own were given appointment under 3 (F) of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission Regulations, 1972.
