SHILLONG: The Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has imposed No Entry all along Upland Road, Laitumkhrah during the morning school hours from 7.30 am to 9 am and in the afternoon from 1 pm to 3 pm.

The STP initiated the new rule after finding that most of the vehicles were being driven along the road without any concern for the safety of the school children and continued violation of restrictions imposed earlier.

In a statement issued here on Monday, SP M Kharkrang said that the restrictions have been imposed keeping in view the safety of school children.

Recently, Shillong Traffic Police conducted a drive at Upland Road and detected seven vehicles which were in violation of traffic restriction and an amount of Rs 4,000 had been realized as fine from them.

The STP has also sought for people’s cooperation so that roads become safer for school-going children.
