Kohima: In the wake of clashes between rival factions NSCN(Khaplang) and NSCN(Khole-Kitovi), the Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) has urged all NSCN groups to stop factional killings in the interest of peace and harmony in Nagaland, officials said on Tuesday.

CFSB Chairman Lt Gen (rtd) N K Singh made the appeal during a closed door meeting of the Board at Chumukedima in Dimapur district on Monday.

Frequent factional clashes have been disturbing peace and creating panic among people, he said.

Expressing dismay at killing of rival cadres to facilitate their own extortion activities, he asked the GPRN/NSCN delegation to stop factional clashes and extortion and to confine themselves within their designated camps.

Stating that extortion can never be justified under any circumstances, he said a new model, which is under consideration, should ensure adequate safeguards to ensure there is no further extortion and violence.

Meanwhile, the GPRN/NSCN kilonser (minister), C Singson has reiterated the concern of the outfit over the killings.

He said they were determined that ceasefire ground rules should be maintained in letter and spirit.

The GPRN/NSCN also requested a review of the ceasefire ground rules particularly those relating to arrest and raiding of houses belonging to GPRN/NSCN and requested for release of seized weapons and set up one more camp preferably in the Lotha and Ao area, the officials said. (PTI)
