SHILLONG: KHNAM has expressed its strong reservation over the use of EVMs in the upcoming Autonomous District Councils elections in the State scheduled for early part of next year.

“We would like to revert back to the old ballot system during the District Council elections,” KHNAM working president Adelbert Nongrum said during his meeting with District Council Affairs Minister HDR Lyngdoh here on Wednesday.

Nongrum who led the delegation of the party during the meeting with DCA Minister also said that the people do not have faith on the EVMs since it is a system which is not tamper proof.

“We have seen in the recent Assembly election in the State, about EVMs turning defective,” he said.
