SHILLONG: The Megha-laya Transport Corporation (MTC) resumed bus service to Umroi Airport from July 31.

Official sources on Saturday informed that the MTC restored the service despite very less number of passengers commuting on this route.

The bus service resumed following a request from the Airport Authority of India.

“We have taken this decision to resume the service since passengers are harassed by taxi drivers who charge more than Rs 1800 to go the airport.” official sources said adding that the bus fare has been fixed at Rs 100 per passenger. Informing that the departure from Shillong to Umroi is scheduled at 11 am, official sources however said that the departure from Umroi to Shillong would depend on the arrival of the flight from Kolkata.
