Redeem’s hat-trick secures Lajong victory

SHILLONG: Redeem Tlang scored a hat-trick to hand Shillong United a 1-6 drubbing in a First Division football match at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Saturday.

Lajong got off to the best possible start when Shanbor Jyrwa scored in the 13th second of the first minute of play.

United sunk further and went into half time 0-3 down after skipper Samuel Shadap and Lalrammuana added goals in the 43rd and 45th minutes, respectively.

The in-form Redeem scored all three goals in the second half. His first came barely two minutes after the break and he scored again in the 85th minute. He added his third in the 89th following a shot from outside the 30-yard box.

Mankupar Rymmai saved United’s blushes, producing a wonderful long shot, earning his team at least one goal.

In the Second Division, Ryntih hammered Lumshyiap 5-0. Kitborlang Kharlukhi (5, 58) and Samborlang Nongbri (17, 80) scored a brace each. Wallamkupar Kharpran opened the scoring in the third minute.
