Cop bid to strangle boy; arrested

 SHILLONG: A police sub-inspector has been arrested from Nongstoin for allegedly trying to strangle a 15-year-old boy inside a tourist cab at Markasa in West Khasi Hills.

The accused R. Sten was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother Basilla Marak, who alleged that Sten on August 3 at around 6.30 pm, tried to strangle her son as a result of which, the minor sustained injuries.

She also alleged that the police personnel threatened her, the driver and other passengers of the cab with dire consequences if they reported the matter to police.

Sten, whose family stays in Nongstoin, was in the tourist cab as a passenger and was not on duty.
