Assault

On August 3 at about 1:30 am, one Wanbok Kharpran assaulted his wife Ranika Kharmujai in their residence at Sohryngkham (EKH). As a result, the victim sustained injuries and has been admitted at CH, Shillong. The matter is under enquiry.

Rape

On August 3 around 2 pm, one Nabaujoti Koch raped a minor girl (4) at Salbaripara village (WGH). The accused was arrested.

Theft

lOn August 2 at about 5 pm, unknown miscreants stole one motorcycle (ML-08-9780) belonging to one John Eppel Ch. Marak from Sunny Hills, Tura (WGH).

lOn July 30 night, unknown miscreants stole batteries from the mobile towers of M/s Airtel and Aircel Telecommunication at Matchakolgre, Tura (WGH).

lOn the night of July 30, unknown miscreants broke into the shop of Md. Noirul Haque at Mendipathar (NGH) and stole thirty-five cell phones valued around Rs. 1,20,000.

Arrest

lRakrang M. Sangma lodged a complaint at Baghmara PS that on August 3, one Jona Momin was caught red-handed while he was selling pirated video CDs at Sibbari Bazar (SGH).

lOn August 4 at around 5 pm, Police arrested one Bangladeshi national, Onjohn Nongmin from Umdang village (WKH).

lOn the night of August 4, Police arrested two persons, Khamti Rymbai (45) and Balajied Mashli (29), in connection with an extortion case under Umiam PS.

Body recovered

On August 3, the body of Sagarika Dhar (26) was recovered from Ward’s Lake, Shillong. She was reportedly missing since August 2. Necessary formalities have been observed and the matter is under enquiry.
