Two arrested

 SHILLONG: Police have arrested two persons for allegedly assaulting 12 church goers and some village volunteers at Bholaganj, East Khasi Hills on Sunday

The arrested persons have been identified as Indrajit Das (truck driver) and Pobitro Das, son of an exporter, P Das. The arrest was made based on an FIR lodged by the Sordar of Majai who stated that on August 4, one truck (ML-05-3300) driven by Das entered Bholaganj Bazar by violating a No Entry sign.

According to the FIR, a heated argument took place between the Village Volunteers and the truck driver. Later, the truck driver and his accomplices assaulted the Village Volunteers at Bholaganj Bazar.

Police informed that the duo were amongst those truck drivers who were involved in assaulting as many as 12 people who were returning after the church service of the Presbyterian Church at Ymbud under Bholaganj.
