Arrests
lPolice on Tuesday arrested another person involved in the recent alleged witchcraft case at Sohryngkham. He has been identified as Gilbert Pdah (42), Rangbah dong of Mawutieng village at Sohryngkham. He is remanded to 2 days in police custody.
lPolice arrested one Pradip Deb alias Amal in connection with a molestation case under Laban PS.
lOn August 5, Members of GSU Kharkutta Region apprehended one Singgan Arengh (53) in connection with an incident of dacoity at Kharkutta (NGH). He was handed over to police. Later he was arrested in connection with the dacoity case under Mendipathar PS.
lOn August 5, Police arrested Sumit Sangma in connection with a cheating case under Jowai PS.
lOn August 4, Police arrested one Drasing Shylla (35) in connection with a rape case under Jowai PS.
Dacoit surrenders
On August 6, one Hamles Kurbah (22), accused of a dacoity case surrendered before Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills. He was involved in a dacoity case at the Bypass where 7 others were caught by the public. He was the driver of the seized truck (AS 01 DC 1965).
Assault
On August 5 at around 8.45 pm, unidentified residents of Bishop’s Falls, Lower Mawprem assaulted one Marcus Kharshandi (24) at the locality. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and shifted to CH, Shillong.
Theft
lOn August 4, unknown miscreants broke into the house of one Plur Sawian at Wahlong village (EKH) and stole one gold necklace, one gold ring, Rs. 40,800, land documents and Passbook.
lOn the night of August 2, unknown miscreants stole one truck (ML-04B-6929) belonging to one Datip Ryngkhlem from Lumpariat, Jowai (WJH).
lOn the night of August 1, unknown miscreants stole garments valued around Rs. 2,82,000 from the shop of one Khandakar Anowar at Phulbari (WGH).
Rape
A woman lodged a complaint that on the evening of August 3, one minor boy (16) raped a minor girl (4).
Stalking
A woman lodged a complaint at Laban PS that on August 3 at around 3 pm, two persons, Ravi Kumar (21) and Sameer Ahmed (23) were stalking her at Lady Hydari Park, Shillong and attempted to contact her with a cell phone no. 7308513577. Police arrested the accused persons.
Missing truck
One Binod Kumar Yadav, Manager, Top Cement, Thangskai lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that on April 15, one truck (AS-01EC-2992) loaded with four hundred bags of cement left for Tinsukia, Assam. However, till date the truck did not reach the destination and the whereabouts of the driver is not known.
