SHILLONG: Candidates who have done their nursing outside the State quota have been reportedly discriminated by the Health and Family Welfare department following the revelations of the department adopting two separate yardsticks between the candidates who complete nursing under the State quota and those candidates outside the quota.
As per the advertisement issued on Friday last for filling up of the 360 vacancies of nursing post in various district hospitals and health care centres in the State, the department has exempted the candidates under the State quota from sitting in the written test.
“The candidates under the State quota would only have to appear for the screening test,” sources on Tuesday informed.
On the other hand, sources informed that the candidates outside the State quota would have to appear for the both the screening and the written test which is scheduled to be held on August 10.
According to sources, this the first time that the department is doing this which is a clear violation of the State Reservation Policy.
While citing an example, sources said that even doctors who have completed their MBBS under the State quota would have to appear for both the written and personal interview which is conducted by the MPSC.
