Relief

The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, has informed that an amount of Rs. 1,26,900 has been released to the families affected by fire incident/ hailstorm (natural calamity) in different villages under Amlarem Block, West Jaintia Hills District.

Applications

The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, has invited application from registered organisations, clubs, educational Institutions, self help groups from the district in the age group of 14 to 25 years for taking up activities and programmes under the Chief Minster’s Youth Development Scheme. Details about the scheme may be obtained from the Planning Branch, Deputy Commissioner’s Office; Jowai on or before August 30, 2013.

Assistance

The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District has informed that the last date for submission of application forms under the Voluntary Action Fund of the Planning Department has been extended to August 31, 2013.

Plantation drive

67 Bn. CRPF deployed at Polo Bazar, Shillong will be organizing mass plantation programme as part of ‘my earth my duty’ from August 15-21 at all company locations of the battalion. In continuation to this programme MI Mallick, Commandant, 67 Bn and MK Yadav, second-in-command, along with CRPF personnel planted 200 saplings at the Unit HQ campus.

Felicitation

St. Edmund’s College will organise a felicitation programme of the position holders 2013 on August 8 at 1.30pm at the college auditorium where Home Minister Roshan Warjri will be present as the chief guest.

Quiz competition

As part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration, St. Mary’s College will organise an inter-college quiz competition on August 8 at 2pm in the college auditorium where Additional Chief Secretary PBO Warjri will be present as the chief guest.

Padma awards

The Padma Awards – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri – will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day 2014. Intending individuals from East Khasi Hills District who desire their names to be recommended to the government for the award are to send their nominations to the office of the DC, East Khasi Hills, latest by August 31, 2013.

The KSU Narpuh Circle has elected new office bearers for 2013-16 with Syrosse Lamare as president, Kwilnis Suchiang as general secretary and Phanuel Tongper as vice president, besides others.

The Gour Nitai Sangha will conduct Asthaprahar Kirtan at Laban Namghar from August 9-11.

Sports meet

The Seng Samla Smit Pyllun will organise the 2nd traditional sports meet on August 14 and 15.

Alumni meet

The ex-students of Laitumkhrah Bengali Secondary School are requested to contact the school authority and register their names on or before August 16 for the alumni meet.
