SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong FC came out victors by a 1-0 margin against Laitlyngkot SC in what was an evenly contested First Division football match , played at the J N Stadium, Polo, on Thursday.

The Reds, fielding their junior team, dominated the proceedings from the word go, with more shots on goal than their opponents, while the match turned out to be an outright entertaining and competitive encounter between the two sides.

This meant that the match was in the balance until stoppage time of the first half, which saw the first and only goal of the match.

It was Lalramuana who broke the deadlock, when on the rebound, he scorched a powerful right-footed shot past the keeper to give Lajong a deserving 1-0 lead.

The second half saw both teams start brightly with Laitlyngkot surging forward in search of the equaliser.

The action flew thick and fast, much like the tackles, even as further drama unfolded in the later stages of the second half, when Lajong colt Rakesh was yellow carded for a technical foul.

That was the last piece of action that the game saw, however, even as Shillong Lajong surged to the top of the division standings with yet another victory.
