JOWAI: NGOs based in East Jaintia Hills District including the KSU Khliehriat Circle, AJYWO-EJZ, FKJGP Khliehriat Circle and HNYF-EJZ have demanded immediate removal of the BSF camp from Khliehriat.
The BSF had set up its camp in a public place belonging to the PWD at Khliehriat in 2012, the NGOs claimed.
According to the NGOs, the government had misled the people by stating that the BSF personnel would be stationed there for only six months. But now it is nearly a year and there is no sign that the BSF would be evacuated from the area, the NGOs stated.
The NGOs have threatened to resort to agitation if the government failed to fulfill their demand.
