KPLT militant killed

Diphu: A Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT) insurgent was killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district early Saturday morning, police said.

On information about the presence of KPLT ultras in Maigaon village in Bokajan subdivision, army and police launched a joint operation there, police said. The cadre fired at them and in the ensuing exchange of fire, the militant was killed and an AK series rifle with magazine and assorted ammunition were recovered from him, the sources said. (PTI)

Ultra arrested

Goalpara: A militant was arrested from Krishnai Bazar in lower Assam’s Goalpara district on Saturday, police said.

On a tip off, Jibon Rabha alias Krishna belonging to the ‘Rabha Viper Army’ was picked up from the area where he had to explore possibilities of procurring materials for manufacture of explosives Friday evening, Superintendent of Police S P Saikia said.

Meanwhile, six dacoits hailing from Barpeta district were arrested on Saturday after they had committed a crimes at Bohotichar area of Goalpara about a week ago, he said. (PTI)
