SHILLONG: Maharashtra government will examine the Meghalaya model of district council so that it can replicate it for that state’s ten per cent tribal population.

“We will examine the model,” chairperson of the Maharashtra Finance Commission JP Dange said here on Saturday.

The Commission is impressed with the distribution of powers to autonomous district councils for the tribals under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian constitution, he said.
