SHILLONG: Kiddies Corner Secondary School claimed the team champion title in both the boys and girls categories at the 21st Inter School & 4th Inter College Karate Tournament, which concluded here on Sunday.

Kiddies Corner girls won five gold medals, six silver and eight bronze.

Their boys grabbed six gold, six silver and eight bronze.

The boys runners-up team was Government Boys Higher Secondary School, while St Joseph’s Higher Secondary School finished second in the girls’ competition.

Best Karateka awards were given out in four categories: Gerard A Nongkhlaw (boys junior), Memon Bareh (boys senior), Isadora A Lyngdoh (girls junior) and Saralin Rynghang (girls senior).

In the college division of the tournament, the results are as follows:

GIRLS:

Below 50kg kumite: 1st Banylla Shallam, 2nd Sonia Langstieh, 3rd Daisy L Mawphlang and Sureelylin Nongdhar.

Above 50kg kumite: 1st Baiamonlang Lyngdoh, 2nd Bandana Wahlang, 3rd Kimbretta Khongwir and Barbara Kshiar.

Open kata: 1st Banylla Shallam, 2nd Bandana Wahlang, 3rd Tipsngi Raliang.

BOYS:

Below 50kg kumite: 1st Dameshwa Rani, 2nd Glikerius Buhphang, 3rd Hopefulson Synnoh and Banteilang Ryntathiang.

Above 50kg kumite: 1st Ronald Lyngdoh, 2nd Raymond Kurbah, 3rd Daebor M Kynta and Pynhunlang Kharbuli.

Open kata: 1st Sandeep Chanda, 2nd Rodrickstar Syiem, 3rd Edwilbert Nongkynrih.

Below 35kg: 1st Iaburomlang Lyngdoh, 2nd Damangshwa Syiem, 3rd Seinkoo Dkhar and John Basaiawmoit.
