JHADC keeps its order in abeyance

 JOWAI: The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) has decided to keep abeyance its order banning its staff from holding the post of Rangbah Shnong in their respective villages after protest from several quarters including NGOs, Dorbar Shnongs.

Announcing this, the JHADC CEM MB Rymbai informed that the decision to ban JHADC staff from holding the post of Rangbah Shnong was taken by the Executive Committee (EC) and the same would be reviewed by the EC in due course of time.

Earlier in the day, a delegation of NGOs comprising members from the Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU), the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF), the Hynniewtrep People National Federation (HPNF) and the Jaintia People’s Movement (JPM) submitted a joint memorandum to the JHADC chief requesting him to keep the order in abeyance.

Speaking to media persons, one of the village elders, Ohiwot Sumer informed that their Rangbah Shnong, R Lakiang was an employee of the JHADC and if the order was implemented, it would badly affect the smooth functioning of the Dorbar Shnong.
