SHILLONG: The FKJGP East (Williamnagar) Zone on Tuesday expressed their concern over the delay of granting the Motor vehicle trade’s materials to the local youth under the Industrial Training Institute, Williamnagar stating that this has closed the door for the skilled youth to apply their skills for the betterment of the State.

Stating that the instructor of this institute was appointed since July 2011, however, so far, the lack of indispensible materials, the motor mechanic trade was rendered void and is still not functioning.

In this connection, the FKJGP East Zone had submitted a memorandum to the Director of Employment and Craftsmen Training Department of Labour apprising the department of the deficiencies and anomalies conducted by the Institute.

According to president of FKJGP East Zone Seng Seng N Marak, this delay has effectively closed the door to the local youth to showcase and utilize their skills for the betterment of the indigenous people who in the process, would gain useful learning and prowess experiences, preparing them for whatever other opportunities might come their way in future.

“The local youth are talented enough and good learners and such trainings would help them become more experienced enabling them to stand in good stead in their future endeavours,” Marak said.

Terming this as one of the problems contributing to the unemployment problem in the State, Marak said “In this age of mounting unemployment problem, granting of motor mechanical trade and its materials for the youth would have meant that employment opportunities are provider to the youth and it would be one of the antidotes to solve the militancy problems in the district.”

He also stated that this would in turn be gratified with the provider and the employer for granting whatever help they would have got.

Marak added, “Whatever may be the nature of the works to be performed, and however difficult and demanding the task might be, the NGOs are fully prepared to take it up and prove their mettle.”
