SHILLONG: Umpling lost 1-3 to Laitlyngkot in Saturday’s First Division football match at Polo Grounds.
The defeat means that Umpling become the second team to be relegated to next season’s Second Division.
On the other hand, Laitlyngkot fired three goals through Banshanlang Sun, Marchterfield Marbaniang and Teiboklang Shabong to ease past their opponents.
Laitlyngkot’s first goal came in the 24th minute by Banshanlang before Umpling’s Bankit Nongkhlaw helped his side level the score in the 37th minute.
However, goals by Marchterfield (74) and Teiboklang (88) saw Laitlyngkot sail through.
Meanwhile, Lumshyiap earned a narrow 1-0 win over Madan in the Second Division thanks to a 29th minute goal by Vorius Thongni.
In the other match of the day, Ryntih also won 1-0, over Riatsamthiah. Samborlang Nongbri was the lone goal-scorer, finding the net in the 38th minute.
