NONGSTOIN: In a shocking crime one Spik Marbaniang (45) of Mawkhiat, West Khasi Hills District, has been accused of raping his stepdaughter, who is just a minor, 14 years of age.

Not only this, Spik has been accused of repeatedly committing the heinous act on his stepdaughter since 2010.

Sources informed that Spik first raped the minor girl while she was out burning trees to obtain charcoal at a forest area in the vicinity of the village. The stepfather lured her on some pretext and raped her. But the matter did not end there as he kept on forcing himself upon the helpless girl whenever he got the opportunity as the girl had kept her mouth shut after being threatened with dire consequences by her stepfather.

The matter went unnoticed until the victim became pregnant and recently gave birth. Shockingly, the accused had raped her once in May while she was pregnant.

Meanwhile, family members on learning that the girl was pregnant warned Spik but he promised that he would mend his ways and leave her alone.

As a precautionary step, the family members shifted the minor girl to some relative’s house at Pyndengrei. However, Spik threatened to shoot the family members with his unlicensed gun.

Afraid and concerned, Spik’s wife (mother of the victim) filed an FIR at Nongstoin Police Station on Monday. The accused was absconding at the time of filing of this report.
