 SHILLONG: It was an occasion for celebration and high expectations for the future that the members of the Listing Committee could meet the Chief Secretary cum Chairman, Meghalaya Heritage Authority on August 20, to present a Memorandum as would give meaning with inputs, for the Meghalaya Heritage Act 2012 to move forward.

INTACH as the prime mover expressed its sincere thanks to Dr. Mukul Sangma, Chief Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh, Minister Urban Affairs, and the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in bringing about such landmark legislation on March 24, 2012. INTACH has also thanked the Chief Secretary for his leadership in piloting the bill with the able assistance of Prasanta Naik, Principal Secretary, Urban Affairs and for his vision and skill in shaping the bill and putting it up in record time.
