SHILLONG: Undeterred from its poor show in the Assembly election in the State, the National People’s Party (NPP) has asserted that the party would contest the upcoming election to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
Elections to the three autonomous district councils in the State, including the KHADC and the JHADC, are due next year.
NPP spokesperson and party legislator, James Sangma, said that the party has already begun its preparations for the election by initiating the process for selection of candidates.
When asked about the party’s plan for the Lok Sabha elections, which are also due next year, Sangma asserted that Agatha Sangma is the sitting MP from Tura and she will be contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Tura seat as the party candidate.
