Govt extends validity of West Khasi Hills DSC merit list

 NONGSTOIN: The All West Khasi Hills DSC-passed candidates on Monday called off their indefinite hunger strike after the State Government issued an order re-validating the DSC results of 2010.

The West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner wrote to the Association on Monday informing of the Government decision after receiving a communiqué from Smti B Rymmai, Under Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya. The order extended the validity of the merit list for the posts of Gram Sevak, Tracer, Sectional Assistant and LDA cum Typist until Jan 1, 2014.

While welcoming the order, the DSC-passed candidates, however, pointed out that half of their demands had remained unfulfilled since they had placed the demand that appointments should be made within the validity period.

The Association also stated that they have called off their hunger strike on good faith and hoped that the Government would fulfill their remaining demand before the end of the year.

Following the suspension of the hunger strike, the proposed 24-hour road blockade from Tuesday called by pressure groups consisting of the HANM, WYWC, WPM and HPSO, was also called off.
