Arrest

* On August 24, Police arrested three persons, Alexgraham Marak (35), Balsil Sangma (20) and Rajib Sangma, in connection with a Mendipathar PS kidnapping case.

* Police arrested one Arneeson Dkhar (31) in connection with a Laban PS cheating case.

* Police arrested one Md. Basrul Haque (19) in connection with a Khliehriat PS theft case.

* Police arrested one Bonifast Nianglang (16) in connection with a Nongstoin PS case of dacoity.

Theft

* On August 24 at about 1am, unknown miscreants stole a truck (ML-04B-7426) belonging to B Sutnga from Soo Kilo, Sutnga Road (East Jaintia Hills).

* On August 24 at around 4am, unknown miscreants stole a Bolero pick-up (ML-04B-1454) belonging to Phiro Nongpluh from Kuliang village (EJH).

Body recovered

On August 24, one unidentified male body was recovered from a coal pit at Tyrnap, Mynska village (West Jaintia Hills).

Murder

One Jyonti Hajong lodged a complaint at Ranikor PS that on August 23 at around 11:30pm, one Nirjami Hajong allegedly murdered his wife, Shila Hajong (21), at Umbir Moilam (South West Khasi Hills), by setting her ablaze.

Assault

On August 22 at around 5:30pm, two persons – Ribait Pyrtuh and Tei Munthiang – allegedly assaulted Charlin Ryngkhlem, who sustained injuries as a result, at Ksehrynshang village (WJH).

Kidnapping

Regarding the missing report of Golar Begum (11), a complaint was lodged by one Mukul Islam that on August 20 at around 1am, unknown miscreants had kidnapped the girl. Later, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant.

Extortion

One Linhaward N Sangma, the general secretary of Nangal-Dobu Coal Truck Owners Association, lodged a complaint at Rongjeng PS that the Drivers’s Association Gate located at Wagok NH-62 (East Garo Hills) is illegally extorting money from coal trucks.

Attempted rape

On August 22 at about 9pm, two unidentified miscreants allegedly abducted a woman in a Maruti Gypsy and took her to a jungle at Lumkytiar (WJH), where one of the miscreants attempted to rape her. However, the victim managed to escape.
