SHILLONG: Despite the Supreme Court’s direction to remove sirens from the vehicles of VIPs, the same has not been made effective in Meghalaya.

The State Chief Secretary WMS Pariat told reporters recently that the State Government was yet to get the official order in this regard.

It was on August 19 that the Supreme Court had asked the Centre and the States to do away with the sirens from vehicles of VIPs as it is in violation of law.
