NONGPOH: Saturday was a remarkable day for the first time legislator from Umroi constituency Ngaitlang Dhar to be addressed as ‘Dr Ngaitlang’ as Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma made a Freudian slip.

Dr Sangma was addressing a gathering at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex after jointly laying the foundation stone of the District & Sessions Judge Court near the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice Acting Justice T Nandakumar was also present at the function and jointly inaugurated the District & Sessions Judge Court.

Perhaps the Freudian slip was inevitable as the dignitaries present at the function were nearly all doctors or doctorates, namely Dr. DD Lapang, Dr Celestine Lyngdoh, Dr Pooja Pandey etc.,

Meanwhile, a large number of people especially children gathered in and around Paham Syiem Ground since morning hours waiting for the arrival of the helicopter to take the chief minister to Garo Hills. At around 1.50 pm the helicopter landed at the temporary helipad after the Chief Minister was kept waiting for nearly 30 minutes.

The Chief Minister who reached the ground and saw an enthusiastic crowd of children greeted them effusively. He then took off for Tura ten minutes after the chopper landed.
