SHILLONG:  Division in Congress over implementation of Inner Line Permit has come to light with the Pynthorumkhrah Youth Congress (Langkyrding, Lumphira Unit) openly supporting the ten organisations demanding introduction of the same in the state.
Opposing the statement of Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma in which he claimed Congress retained power because people had rejected the ILP as a mechanism to solve the influx issue, Youth Congress unit president Joshua Nongrum in a statement on Monday said that ILP was never mentioned  in the party’s manifesto.
“Despite being a unit of Congress party, we are supporting the implementation of ILP,” Nongrum said.
