Draft electoral rolls for West Jaintia Hills published

JOWAI: The Deputy Commissioner (Election) West Jaintia Hills District, PS Dkhar, on Tuesday informed that the draft photo electoral rolls would be available in the Office the Deputy Commissioner (Election), office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Election) and respective polling stations for public inspection.

He informed that the voters can lodge their claims and objections over the draft rolls within a period of one month from September 2 to October 1, 2013, the process of disposal of claims and objections would be completed by November 15, 2013. Updating the database, merging of photographs and preparation and printing of list would be undertaken from November 15 to December 31, 2013 and the final rolls would be published on January 6, 2014.

Continuing with the SVEEP, the District Administration will conduct special programmes to capture and encourage young voters to enroll themselves.

He also announced the names of electoral registration officers for Nartiang (ADC DP Kharsati), Jowai and Raliang (ADC SS Syiemlieh) and Mowkaiaw (ADC D Hynniewta).

It was also informed that the draft electoral rolls for Nongstoin, Rymbai-Jyrngam, Mawshynrut and Amlarem constituencies have also been prepared in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
