WKH U-12 tourney sees flurry of goals

SHILLONG: The first round of matches in the West Khasi Hills Block Level Under-12 Football Tournament were held on Tuesday.

In the Nongstoin Block tournament, held at Nong-pyndeng playground, two close matches were played before a goalfest ensued.

Mawiong Lumsyntiew SC beat New Nongstoin SC 2-1, while Upp. New Nongstoin SC played out a goalless draw against Nongstoin Sports SC Club.

The next two matches saw a total of 12 goals scored as Mawlarshong FC blanked Ladweitang SSC 5-0, while Seng Samla Shnong, Mawkawah, went down 1-6 to Mawiong Pyndengrei FC.

In the Mairang Block tourament, held at the KSA Stadium, Mairang, Iaineh SC scored a massive 10-0 win over Lummaralong SC, followed by Thangmaw FC’s 6-0 victory over Super Junior Pyndengumiong.

Go Ahead Boys FC then drew 1-1 with Littlestar FC before Maitphang SC won 9-1 over Rani Social & Cul. SC.

Saitsnad playground, Mawlangwir, will host first round matches for the Mawkyrwat Block on Wednesday from 9am.
