SHILLONG: In view of the volatile law and order situation in Shillong and other parts of the state, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has directed respective district administrations to take responsibility of maintaining overall law and order situation in their districts.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Dr Sangma said that the respective district administrations have been asked to ensure that the law prevails while dealing with miscreants.

It may be mentioned that spurts of violence were reported in the capital city and other districts with burning of vehicles and Government office assuming the order of the day. The law and order situation became volatile following the inconclusive meeting between NGOs and Government on implementation of ILP in the state to regulate the entry of outsiders.
