SHILLONG: Rape of minors continue to show an increasing trend in the State with the recent case where a minor girl was raped by her own relative, Sujit Ghosh at Motphran here on August 18.

According to the police, the complaint was only filed recently after the girl gathered much courage to report this case to the police in which she informed that on August 18 at about 12:30 pm, the accused, Ghosh dragged her inside his vehicle at Motphran, assaulted her and later raped her.

After committing the crime, the accused had threatened the minor girl with dire consequences. This fear had kept the girl from coming forward, police sources said.
