SHILLONG: The all women post office at Oakland, Shillong, the first of its kind in North East Postal Circle was dedicated to public on Friday.
B B Dutta, Ex-Member of Parliament, RajyaSabha, Ananya, Commissioner, Customs and Central Excise, Shillong, A K Mathur, Director, NEPA and other dignitaries participated in the function.
P K Swain, Post Master General, North East Circle while addressing the gathering brought out the importance of matrilineal nature of society in Meghalaya and the importance accorded by department of posts to it’s women employees.
He further hoped that the modernized all woman Oakland post office would bring more professionalism to postal business.
The guests who were invited for the function also addressed the gathering and expressed their gratitude for declaring a post office as all woman post office.
