SHILLONG: Former legislator PM Syiem has urged Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma to end the current deadlock by implementing both Inner Line Permit (ILP) and Tenancy Act.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Syiem said that the stalemate between the Government and the NGOs will continue if both the parties stick to their stand over the mechanism to contain influx.

“The Government should implement ILP as suggested by the NGOs and the Tenancy Act as suggested by the Chief Minister on a trial basis for some years and observe as to which of the two suggestions is effective to protect the State from influx,” Syiem said.

Several pressure groupshave resorted to agitation following their demand for implementation of the ILP in the State.
