Tension mounts at High Court premise

Hyderabad: Legal fraternity was again at loggerheads with each other as Andhra Pradesh High Court lawyers for and against seperate Telangana state were planning to stage protests on Wednesday.

Tension mounted as the lawyers from the Seemandhra gathered in front of the court premises to form a human chain, while their pro-Telangana counterparts was taking out a rally in support of bifurcation of the state.

The pro-Telangana lawyers gave a ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ call here last night and several from Telangana region gathered at the court premises to take part in the rally.

Both groups assembled before the office of the State Bar Council since morning to start their protests.

Police, BSF, SPF and task force were deployed in a large number to avert any untoward incident and allowing the employees into court by checking their IDs.

According to City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma, prohibitory orders banning rallies and meetings were already in force near the HC premises.

If anyone violates orders action will be taken against them, the Commissioner added. (UNI)
