Laitumkhrah crowned 2nd Division champions

SHILLONG: Laitumkhrah came through as Second Division champions after an exciting finish against Laban that ended in penalties.

Laitumkhrah drew first blood when foreign striker Christian Agua converted a shot in the 52nd minute before Laban leveled scores in the 67th minute courtesy Henry Marboh’s piercing shot past the keeper.

At the end of stipulated time the scores were tied 1-1 before the match was taken into penalties, which eventually saw Laitumkhrah walk away with the honours with a 6-5 win.

Meanwhile, in the Third Division, Raymond Lamare produced a 44th minute goal that helped Lumdiengjri steal their match against Mawryngkneng 1-0.

Jongksha scored three goals to punish a depleted CAC in their Third Division game at Polo Grounds. Jongksha’s goal-scorers were Sambha Nongrum (4th), Korban Dkhar (28th), and Skhemborlang Rynjah (64th).

Rynjah’s Yami Longbah and Wungngayan Muirang contributed a goal apiece to hand Mawkriah West a 0-2 defeat in their match. Yami Longbah scored a goal in the 55th minute after converting a penalty while Wungngayan Muirang found the back of the net in the 62nd minute.

In the Third Division on Monday, Marbisu will play Qualapaty at 12:15pm, Laitkor face Umlyngka at 2pm and Lumpyngngad take on Mawprem at 4pm.
