Northeast Youth Peace Festival in Nagaland from Sept 20

Kohima: The 6th North East Youth Peace and Cultural Festival will be held at Holy Cross Higher Secondary School Dimapur from September 20 to 23, organised by the Peace Channel, in its endeavour to create cultural awareness, prevent future conflicts and build the potentials and capacities for youth peace building and create networks for peace builders.

According to a statement issued by Founder and Director, Peace Channel, the festival will be held on the theme ‘Peace building through reconciliation’ and this annual event is to commemorate the International Day of Peace and the foundation day of Peace Channel and People’s Forum for Peace (PFP).

The inaugural function on September 21 will be graced by Nagaland Minister for Youth Resources and Sports Merentoshi R. Jamir as the Chief Guest.

Various religious and public leaders, including Pastors Fellowship Dimapur, Naga Council Dimapur and Naga Women Hoho Dimapur, will also attend the inaugural programme. Niketu Iralu, Trustee Initiative of Change India, will be the main speaker on the theme ‘ The need of Peace Building’.

The three-day event will enable integration through inter-faith, inter-cultural interaction and sharing, facilitate through input sessions and inculcate peace in the hearts and minds of the participants. The Peace Channel and PFP is expecting around 700-800 delegates from Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Meghalaya and Manipur.

The programme is being jointly hosted by Peace Channel and PFP and powered by State Bank of India, World Vision, North East Diocesan Social Forum (NEDSF) and Indo- Global Social Service Society (IGSSS). (UNI)
