TURA: A vegetable grocer was shot at by unidentified militants in Garobadha market, yards from a police outpost, on Sunday evening.

Two men walked up to the grocery store of Bishnu Saha (43) around 6 pm, and taking advantage of the darkness, opened fire hitting him on the right hand. Despite being injured the trader managed to flee in the direction of the Garobadha police infiltration check point which is reportedly located less than a hundred meters from his shop.

At the time of the incident the entire Garobadha region was without electricity due to a local technical snag.

Locals complained that power supply has been highly erratic since Friday evening and the entire region had been plagued with frequent disruptions which lasted for several hours.

The previous night, on Saturday, a theft had taken place inside the shop of one Bishnu Das who was shot at and injured by two unidentified militants. He is said to be out of danger after being admitted to a hospital in Tura. Security forces have launched a combing operation to nab the attackers.
