Kohima: The Nagaland University Lumami campus, under Zunheboto district, would be hosting the Young Ecologist Talk and Interact (YETI) conference of this year, from December 17 to 19 next.

According to sources, the YETI is a first-of-its-kind conference for students and researchers working in the discipline of ecology, conservation and social sciences in India. The conference began in 2009 with participation from students from all over India. Its uniqueness lies in being a student oriented conference, organized entirely by student volunteers from across the country. This year’s themes of the conference are: Ecology; Conservation Biology and Social Sciences Pertaining to Wildlife Conservation. Last year, the conference was held in Dehradun attended by 350 people and YETI’s online community have now exceeded 1,500 people and they have been interacting through mails. All organizers of the conference are student volunteers from different institutions of the country, working together with a core organizing committee.

The participants would be getting a chance to interact with renowned scholars on questions related to ecology and conservation. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; IIT Guwahati and Wild Life Institute of India, Dehradun have already hosted YETI. (UNI)
