NSACS launches 5th Multi Media Campaign

Kohima: The Adviser of the Music Task Force under the Nagaland Department of Youth Resources and Sports Khriehu Liezietsu on Monday officially launched the NSACS ZERO Multi Media Campaign (MMC) for the year 2013 at the Rattle and Hum Lounge at Kohima.

Addressing a press conference Khriehu announced that the NSACS (Nagaland State AIDS Control Society) ZERO Multi Media Campaign will kick start from Mon District on 1st October and will culminate on October 28 at Dimapur.

NSACS ZERO would be the 5th Music campaign to spread awareness of HIV/AIDS among the youth of Nagaland using the medium of music he said.

The Project Director of the NSACS Dr N L Changkija re-iterated that the Multi Media Campaign organized by NSCAS is an annual event to create awareness throughout the state where awareness were delivered to the general public from the platform of music competition, various sports events, various festivals and other events of enjoyments, where the gathering people are sensitised.

She said it is belonged to one and all and was optimistic that the Music campaign would be taken forward with a renewed vigour, the objectivity being greater visibility for the issue of HIV/AIDS.

Stating that 60 to 65 per cent of the current prevalent rate falls in the age group of 15 to 45 years.

She further called for spreading awareness with renewed commitment and with a greater perspective so that the service to the society is achieved.

Deputy Director (IEC) Ayieno Kechu, who was also present at the launch of the NSACS ZERO MMC informed that the key components of the campaign for 2013 would be awareness through sports, music and festivals.

NSACS ZERO Coordinator Theja Meru briefing media persons said that this year MMC anticipates the participation of over 100 Music groups from Nagaland, out of which 11 bands from 11 districts will be selected to participate at the Grand Finale.

This year all Genres of music are Rock, Jazz, Pop, Blues, would be encouraged for the music competitions he further informed.

The event partners are Unitex, Crescendo, Dream Cafe, Audio Garage, The Naga Blog, INDIHUT, Rattle & Hum Lounge and Space-M.

Audio Garage would sponsors gifts for the Best Vocalist, Unitex- the best Guitarist, Crescendo- Best Bass Guitarist, Dream Cafe- Best Drummer while Space -M will give a Mobile each to all the four individual winners.

INDIHUT will produce a single track for the winner.

The Naga Blog (TNB) would organise various contest related to HIV/AIDS awareness and give custom made TNB T-Shirts to the winners.

Winners of the Grand Finale will receive a cash award of Rs 1 Lakh, 60 Thousands and Rs 40 Thousands respectively.

Winners of the District Level competitions will receive a cash prize of Rs 10 Thousand, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. (UNI)
