SHILLONG: Nongstoin police on Monday arrested one Iengskhemlang Pariong (21) from Nongstoin in connection with a rape case.
Pariong, who hails from Mawkohiew Rambrai, allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl at Khyrin village in West Khasi Hills on September 12. During interrogation, the accused admitted to committing the crime.
Stir called off
NONGPOH : The DSC-aassed candidates under the banner of RBDSCPCA on Tuesday called off their indefinite hunger strike after Government responded to their demand for revalidation of the placement in Government departments which will end by December.
ANVC truce extended
SHILLONG: The ceasefire with ANVC was extended for another six months after a meeting of the joint monitoring group held in New Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by leaders of ANVC and the senior Government officials. According to sources, Government assured the ANVC delegation that the proposed peace pact would be finalised within six months.
