‘MCA requests Sachin’s 200th Test’

Mumbai: The Mumbai Cricket Association has formally requested the BCCI to allot the second and final Test between India and the West Indies to the Wankhede Stadium here so that Sachin Tendulkar can play his milestone 200th Test before the home crowd. “We have put in our request. If it is going to happen, then we should be the first claimants. We would like to have it over here since he is from Mumbai,” Savant told reporters here on Tuesday. Tendulkar has played 198 Tests since making his debut in 1989 against Pakistan in Karachi. Former BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla, however, said that the board has not yet decided which city will host the match. Turning his eye towards BCCI’s AGM at Chennai on September 29, Savant, who is also the Board’s treasurer, was certain that incumbent president N Srinivasan would chair the meeting. “Yes, he will lead (the meeting) as the president,” Savant said. Inter punished for racist chanting

ROME: Inter Milan must play their next Serie A home match with no spectators in one section of their ground as punishment for racist chanting by fans on Saturday, officials decided on Tuesday. Inter fans also unfurled a banner insulting Juve coach Antonio Conte, the statement said. Italian media said racist insults were directed at Juve midfielders Paul Pogba and Kwadwo Asamoah during the match in Milan, which ended 1-1.
