Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Friday paid tribute to four of its former members and a sitting MLA who died within this year.
The members who passed away in the past six months include, former ministers Wangnia Pongte and Niani Natung, MLAs Lobsang Tsering, Donglo Sonam including sitting MLA from Dambuk constituency Jomin Tayeng.
Making an obituary reference on the inaugural day of the four-day assembly session, Speaker Wangling Lowangdong led the House in remembering the former members who, he said, have immensely contributed to the cause of the state.
Terming the death of sitting MLA Jomin Tayeng as ‘an irreparable loss to the state’, Lowangdong said that his death had created a void which cannot be filled.
Tayeng was the first IAS officer from the state to be elected to the state legislative assembly in 2009. (PTI)
Drug testing lab demanded for Arunachal
Itanagar: The Indian Pharma Revolution Yatra (IPRY) from Kashmir to Kanyakumari has called for establishing a drug testing laboratory in Arunachal Pradesh to control the sale of spurious and substandard drugs in the state.
The IPRY also suggested among others establishment of a pharmacy college, a drug information centre and closing down illegally run drug stores in the state.
The IPRY is a nationwide movement launched by New Delhi-based Udyog Development Foundation (UDF) to create awareness among the people and policy makers on the role of pharmacists. (PTI)
