SHILLONG: Police arrested one Marius Lyngdoh for attempting to rape his 16-year-old niece at Mawlai Kynton Massar on September 18.
Police informed that they have established that the accused really committed the crime.
“We have always seen in these kinds of cases where rape happens within the family, the attempt to rape is not always the first time. Even in this case, there are possibilities that this is not the first instance,” police said.
Police said that they would try to find if the accused had tried to rape the victim earlier also.
It may be mentioned that the accused was assaulted by his relatives and later admitted at Shillong Civil Hospital.
