SHILLONG: Police arrested the senior officer of the Kolkata based ACME service for duping investors who have deposited their money with the firm.

According to the police, they arrested the administrative officer of the Shillong Branch Casper Tariang on Thursday following an FIR lodged against him by the investors who deposited lakh of rupees in the firm.

The complaint was lodged following the recent directive of the ACME Service headquarters to close down all its branches including Shillong citing due to “bankruptcy”. Police said as per the FIR lodged by one Evanora Kharpuli and staff of the company, Tariang had on September 11 informed them that the company is going through a phase of bankruptcy and the branch has to be closed down without clearing the money of the customers.

The ACME Shillong branch started its operation in the state way back in 2008.

“In a span of five years, the company has collected Rs 1.3 crore from over 557 customers or clients,” Tariang had said addressing a press conference here on Tuesday last.
